A major earthquake registering 8.8 occurred in Chile on February
28th/2010 followed by a tsunami along the coastline and multiple
aftershocks. Authorities estimate that more than 700 people were
killed with over 2 million people affected. The Chilean government
declared the regions as ‘catastrophic zones’. The Trauma Association
of Canada International Issues/Disaster Committee would like to
express our deepest sympathies to all those affected. As concerned
health providers we would also like to assist our membership to
obtain information about the event and provide relevant links to
identify ways to help.
